The Predictive Index: Address the Gap of Mental Health Resources In the Workplace

There is a cultural and systemic décor that has for decades blocked the inclusion of mental health and wellness resources from being more prominent in organizations.

However, 2020 showed us a season that pulled back the curtain on normalcy and cut down the stigma related to mental health care in the workplace. In essence, there was simply no way to not acknowledge the emotional, social, and psychological experiences we were all enduring in some aspect.

It took these most turbulent times for organizations to lean in with intent to address mental health in the workplace, while also exposing the substantial disparity of mental health resources available for employees.

If there is one lesson learned in this all, it is to stand-up an internal Employee Assistance Program within your organization. This one small but might department saved my agency. This is the best practice towards introducing a localized, trusted, internal resource readily available to answer the charge of workplace wellness and stabilization.

As access to traditional therapists became scarce due to demand, it has been the deeds and offering of short-term therapeutic intervention via Employee Assistance Program clinicians, that has helped to steady many. For the first time in forever, make wellness in the workplace a welcomed ally to improved performance, productivity, and work/life balance needs.

Invest in advancing wellness at work initiatives.
